There are various reports of the optimizer slowing down compilation in a seemingly pathological way. This is an aggregate report to collect all those.

If people are looking to help with these issues but don't know where to start:
Running a cpu profile and adding it to the report goes a long way towards making progress on the issue.

E.g.: #17135, #18221, #21111 involve big code bases and generic problem description and no profiling information.

I plan on implementing a fix for #6401 / #7157 but I've had other priorities.
